Admissions
All items听below are required to support your application. Please note that applications will not be considered until they are complete, meaning all required documents AND reference letters have been received.
Please ensure that any documents submitted by email are in PDF format.
Application deadline
The MMM program begins accepting applications in autumn of each year. International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by听January 15 of the year they wish to begin study听(or as early as possible). All applications must be received in their entirety by March 31st of the year you wish to begin study.听Applications received after this date be considered if there remain available seats in the cohort. Application review begins in听February, and applicants will be notified of the Admissions Committee鈥檚 decision on a rolling basis.听
Funding & Scholarship Opportunities
Applications received by听January 31st听will be eligible for consideration for scholarship support. Since funding support form the department is limited, applicants are encouraged to seek their own funding from both 最新杏吧原创 and external sources.听

MMM Application Requirements
Two steps are required to apply to the MMM program. BOTH must be completed in their entirety before your application is considered complete.
1.听听听听 Application for Admission
The Application for Admission form is available听. This form and the application fee informs the Registrar's Office that you are applying to the MMM Program.听
Applicants are advised to submit the Admission form and application fee听at least 2 weeks in advance听of the deadline in order to activate the e-reference system (see Section 2 b below).
2.听听听听 Supporting Documents for the MMM application
must be submitted directly to the Marine Affairs Program at听marine.affairs@dal.ca听as PDF files听or听mailed directly to:

For application purposes, unofficial academic transcripts and degree certificates (if degree conferral not stated on transcripts) are required for each post-secondary institution attended. Transcripts should include your first and last name, degree and program type and name of degree issuing university. Transcripts are to be submitted as PDF files, file name lastname_first initial_trancript.pdf.
Should you be accepted for admission to your program of choice, final transcripts will be required within 90 days of the start of your program. Submission of official transcripts for newly admitted students must be sent directly from the degree granting university. 听
*Note that the Faculty of Graduate Studies, 最新杏吧原创 reserves the right to verify the validity of all documents provided, as well as the inability of an issuing institution to issue documents.听 听
Important transcript details:
- Transcripts in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by an English translation provided by the institution issuing the transcript.
- Notarized copies of transcripts are听not听permitted.
- Degree and graduation certificates must be included if the transcript does not indicate the type of degree and date granted.
- Transcripts submitted with applications become the property of 最新杏吧原创, are subject to verification, are not available for copying and will not be returned to the applicant.
- Official transcripts are听not required听for any courses or degrees you have completed at 最新杏吧原创.
b. References
A minimum of听three (3) confidential Letters of Reference, two of which are academic references听from full time tenure track or tenured professors. If you are a mid-career applicant who has been out of your last formal degree program for more than three years, it is possible to use professional references in lieu of one academic reference. Please email marine.affairs@dal.ca to learn more about this option if this situation applies to you.
Reference letters can be submitted through the electronic reference system in the online application. 听
Electronic references can only be submitted after the Application for Admission form And Application fee has been submitted (see Section 1 above).
In order to submit an e-reference, 最新杏吧原创 will only accept听university, teaching hospital, and government email addresses听[i.e. not Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, or business addresses].听References will be sent a notification by email indicating you have listed them as a reference, and the procedure for completing the online reference form.听Allow 5 business days听for your referee(s) to be contacted by our system. Take this into consideration for the听application deadline.
References that do not have an email address as indicated above must contact听marine.affairs@dal.ca听directly for instructions.
NOTE: 最新杏吧原创 attempts to verify all references for application to Graduate School.听
HINT:听If you completed an honours thesis, one of your references should be from your honours thesis supervisor. If this is not possible, please explain why in your application. Your other academic references should come from faculty (tenure track or tenured) who taught you in upper level and/or seminar-type classes.
c. MMM Supplemental Application Form
The听听is in PDF format. To complete the form, you need to download听. The Word version of the form is available upon request from听marine.affairs@dal.ca.
HINT:听Life happens, and the MAP Admissions Committee understands. Use this form as an opportunity to explain yourself (grades, reference selection, work experience, etc.). All applications are confidential.
d. Curriculum Vitae
The curriculum vitae should summarize your academic and work history, research, publications, awards, fellowships, extra-curricular activities and volunteer experience. Details should be listed from most to least recent.
e. Additional Material
Any additional material you think would assist your application is welcomed. This would include honours thesis, publications, major papers written for upper level undergraduate courses, etc.听
HINT:听If you have completed an honours thesis, submit a copy. Otherwise a major/research paper prepared for an upper level course should be included听to support your application. 听
f. English Language Competency
International students must complete the same admission process as Canadian students. If English is not your first language and you did not complete your most recent degree at an English-speaking institution, you must submit an English proficiency test score.

g. External Funding Award Letter
For those that have received external scholarship funding, a copy of the award letter must be submitted.
