If you plan to travel outside of Canada for more than 180 days, you are required to contact to be covered under the provincial program. In addition, SSQ, ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s travel insurance provider, offers out of country travel medical coverage for employees, dependants and retirees for up to 180 days.
Effective February 1, 2013, SSQ, ×îÐÂÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s travel insurance provider, will no longer extend emergency out of country travel medical coverage beyond the 180-day maximum.
If you plan to travel outside of Canada before February 1, 2013, you can request for an extension beyond the 180-day maximum. SSQ requires the name of the employee, dependant or retiree, return date to Canada and a copy of a MSI letter confirming the extension. SSQ will determine whether you are insured beyond the 180-day maximum for out of country travel medical coverage.
